Client Issue: After 30 years, Oracle remains the gold standard for database technology & applications in enterprises throughout the world: The company is the world's leading supplier of software for information management,
& the world's second largest independent software company. Oracle technology can be found in nearly every industry
& in the data centres of 98 of the Fortune 100 companies. Oracle is the first software company to develop & deploy 100% internet-enabled enterprise software across its entire product line: database, business applications, application development & decision support tools. The Sales Application Engineer Group had an existing 6 week classroom training program that prepared sales engineers for selling Oracle applications. It was time & staff intensive, not flexible & very expensive due to travel, housing & meal costs. The request was for a streamlined program using both online & DVD resources that would allow distance learning with minimised expenses.
Solution: Synergy collaborated with an Oregon based design firm & applications specialists from Oracle, to completely restructure the 6 week program. Interactive learning DVDs introduced the products, features & benefits. This allowed accelerated learning, prior to attendance of a newly formatted 2 week intensive residential training program that accented practices of real life selling scenarios with video feedback.
Outcome: A 2/3rd reduction in training costs for travel expenses & time away from work were achieved. Additionally, the new sales applications engineers were able to learn product fundamentals more quickly & apply in the field, in advance of attending the periodic 2 week sessions. Finally, as new products were developed, a framework existed so updated DVDs were quickly made available to the salesforce.
The company has continued to grow, recently announcing that their fiscal first quarter (2007/08) revenues are up 26% to $4.5 billion.
