Beverly McCormick joined Synergy Global in 2011 as our Team Leader – NZ (North Island). Beverly graduated from the University of Alabama, USA with a major in Social Work in 1987. She then joined the US Navy & was stationed in Souda Bay, Greece where she spent a year working for their Postal Service & as a part-time member of the Military Police (MP). In 1989, she was promoted & moved to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba where she managed a remote branch of a US Military Post Office. She also taught military personnel to drive 5-ton vehicles/forklifts & in addition worked part-time in a secure base defence position. In 1992, she was promoted again & moved to La Maddalena, Italy where she ran another US Military Post Office - further developing her leadership & team building skills. She also developed an Office Volunteer Program, which increased productivity levels by over 20%, resulting in less staff overtime & improved morale.

In 1994, Beverly moved to London, UK where she became the 2nd in charge (2IC) of 15 military & civilian personnel. She facilitated training in communication, personal responsibility, equal opportunity & sexual harassment for groups of up to 200 staff. In an effort to enhance the quality of life for US Military Personnel, she also managed & analysed organisational surveys. She was instrumental in identifying potential problem areas, recommending solutions & implementing change. Beverly also acted as a Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector & travelled to remote US Military Postal Facilities to ensure their compliance with US Military Post Office Regulations. In early 1996, Beverly decided to leave the military & travel, before getting married & settling into family life in New Zealand (NZ).

As a mother she became involved in the local Playcentre & also facilitated Adult Education Classes for parents. By 2002, Beverly had become the Education Officer of the Western Bay of Plenty Playcentre Association (WBOPPA). In this role, she managed all parent education classes for 13 Regional Playcentres. During this time she designed & implemented a Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) - this manual was instrumental in the WBOPPA Education Review by the Ministry of Education & was used as a guide for other Playcentres throughout NZ. She then worked at Puma Darts, as the Quality Manager, where she designed & implemented a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) System that won the firm an ISO 9001:2000 Award. She also managed all aspects the Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Program including the maintenance of all factory Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) requirements.

Over the years Beverly has participated in a range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses including: Quality Management Systems & Team Skills, ISO Training, Leadership Training, Equal Opportunities, Cultural Diversity & Cross-cultural Training. She now uses her skills & experience as a volunteer: currently as the Secretary of the local cricket club & the Chairperson of the local High School PTA. Now that Beverly’s children are growing up, she has decided to further develop her career & take on the managerial role of Team Leader – NZ (North Island). In 2012, as part of her Personal Development Plan (PDP) she will be working towards gaining her ACC & PCC coaching credentials with the International Coach Federation (ICF).

  • Development of High Performing Teams – facilitating 4-D System (NASA) Programs
  • Improving Internal/External Communications, plus Personal/Organisational Effectiveness
  • Staff Engagement, Training & Motivation - including Performance Management
  • Project Management of local Leadership & Cultural Change Programs across NZ

Beverly has Dual Citizenship with the US/NZ, & lives in the beautiful Bay of Plenty with her husband, 2 children & pets. She enjoys a range of activities including scuba diving (Qualified PADI Divemaster), skiing, hiking, tennis, reading & spending quality time with her family.
